Her Secret Paintings

A new exhibition of the astonishing and visionary work of Hilma af Klint features in this edition of Spectrum. In a major exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW from 12 June – 19 September 2021 Sydney-siders get a once in a life time chance to peruse the ‘secret paintings’ of the revolutionary Swedish painter. Thought to be the first abstract painter her radical works were considered so odd and alarming in the early 20th Century they were stored away for decades.

Convicts and Cuttlefish
