New segment: News for older people

Fri, 26 June 2020

If you're a Breakfast listener, you're in for a treat. If you're not, now is the time to start listening! We are excited to launch News for older people, a new segment presented by Natalie Shea and Mary Jane Hogan.

News for Older People

The five-minute weekly segment - broadcast as part of the Monday Breakfast program - will bring current, high-level information to older Australians who are part our of audience. The segment will cover key policy announcements, schemes, initiatives and major events of most relevance to this group.

The Council on the Ageing NSW (COTA NSW) has agreed to be a program partner by assisting us with content sources. COTA is the peak organisation for people over 50 in NSW. It is an independent, consumer-based non-government organisation, which works with politicians, policy makers, service providers and the media to make sure the views of older people are heard and acted on.

"The new segment is the second element of our strategy to present bites of information to specific groups across the week," said General Manager Sancha Donald.

"Disability News
was the first component of the strategy to be launched and has been running for several months as part of the Wednesday Breakfast program."
