Our volunteers, supporters, and benefactors were thrilled to be invited to Government House on the 21st of March to celebrate 40 years of high-quality broadcasting, committed community effort, and acknowledgment for setting the gold standard for radio reading services provided for the purposes of enriching the lives of those living with a print disability. Her Excellency the Hon. Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, (Governor of New South Wales) and her husband, Mr Dennis Wilson are the fourth in line of succession for the Vice Regal patronage that Radio 2RPH has enjoyed over several decades.
The Governor honoured all our contributors, supporters, and benefactors but offered generous words for our tireless volunteers:
“You know the privilege actually comes this way. It is such a privilege to be associated with 2RPH. It is quite extraordinary. A privilege to be associated with the 200 volunteers who give 350 hours a week, every week to the rest of the community…”
Tributes were paid to our founders Neil Runcie, Ron Postle, and Barbara Blackman who could not attend. We were very pleased to have the first station manager Geoff Brown join us and recount the original days in Blues Point Road in March 1983. 478 months later we are broadcasting around the clock on AM, FM, DAB+, and online with terrestrial coverage of more than 76% of NSW.
