2RPH provides a radio reading service for people who cannot see, handle or understand printed material. Join more than 180 people from all walks of life.
Current volunteering opportunities
Live-to-air readers willing to train as announcers/panel controllers as quickly as possible. Our live shifts can’t proceed without skilled people at the helm, so we need a larger team of announcers to ensure programs go to air as consistently as possible.
Live-to-air readers must be available regularly, including for potential morning (6.00 am to 8.30 am) and mid-morning (8.30 am to 11.30 am) shifts, Monday through Friday, and occasional weekend shifts.
Social Media, web and newsletter content writers – Approximately 4 hours a week. Work can be done at the station or remotely.
2RPH Volunteer Criteria
We seek to make 2RPH a friendly, cooperative environment, which means we hope to recruit dedicated volunteers, passionate about radio, know who 2RPH is and can commit to regular shifts. Before taking the steps to become a volunteer with us, please review the below criteria to see if this opportunity is for you.
Volunteer criteria
- Able to commit to at least 12 months.
- Able to learn new technology. An ability to navigate and read from tablet computers is essential.
- Able to fill vacant shifts regularly. Shifts can be ongoing (depending on vacancies) or casual;
- Able to become a member of 2RPH upon successful application of becoming a volunteer. General membership is $33, and concession membership is $16.50.
- Able to adapt easily to change.
- Able to provide a police check/criminal record check (Click here)
- Able to receive constructive feedback in an open manner
- Able to work with diverse people and be part of a friendly, collaborative and supportive environment.
- Must be familiar with domestic and international news and current affairs.
