Ablequest Interview - Kimberly Lewis talks Key Word Sign

Tue, 4 October 2022

Kimberly is a passionate advocate of Key Word Sign – a simplified form of manual signing using signs from Auslan – the language of the deaf community in Australia. For children and adults with communication difficulties, Key Word Sign is a great way to support language development.

Kimberly was born deaf in her right ear and decided to study speech pathology to use her own experiences to help other families support their communication goals.

Now as General Manager of Hunter Prelude Intervention Services she heads up a team of therapists including speech pathologists. Elaine Wziontek asked her about her passion for signing and how parents can learn Key Word Sign. The episode will be broadcast at 3:00pm on Friday, 7 October and repeated on Monday, 10 October at 3:00pm.
