What's Driving '30 Laps With Dick' this week?
Fri, 26 March 2021
30 Laps With Dick presenter Richard Lyon has a hyperkinetic storytelling style that is absolutely unique. Sometimes Dick will reference events from the specific year in which a car was released or perhaps even a song that was popular when a certain driver was in top form.
30 Laps, says Dick “includes anecdotes of lunches with famous motoring characters and anything else that blows in the window while we're driving along”. This week he’s riffing on cartoons and biscuit makers, with a detour into the Battle of Trafalgar in October 1805. Don’t ask. Just buckle up for the ride. What does motoring have to do with Frankenstein and Igor Nelson? Dick says they make a good combination, like Simon and Garfunkel or fish and chips. Which Igor Nelson? You’ll have to listen to find out the real motoring connection.
For those following developments in the electric car industry, Richard will also provide a “trunkated” history of the Tesla Car Company. Mind the pun!
