Animates returns to form this week after the enforced COVID-19 hiatus, with fresh insights into the huge support an animal can give anyone living with a disability. 

Katie Woods is a 2RPH presenter and also one of our stellar production team. In this episode she chats with Samantha Partridge (above) - a young woman with a truly remarkable gift . Every animal she meets seems to fall in love with her. 

Samantha was in fact all set for a career working with animals when she was diagnosed with a rare blood condition in her early 20s. Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a condition where the body’s immune system destroys platelets which allow blood to clot. Even a small injury can be potentially life threatening. 

Undeterred, Samantha embarked instead on a life of serial escapades, travelling around the world to meet wild and domesticated creatures in dozens of countries along the way. This is her story.

Animates goes to air on Tuesdays at 7pm in Week 1 and Week 3. It repeats on Sundays at 5.30pm in Week 2 and Week 4.
