Clarebalding and Alice

Clare Balding has been described as an all round good egg and the nation's darling in the UK press. An award-winning broadcaster her work presenting the Paralympic Games, and promoting Riding for the Disabled has earned her an OBE. She lives in London with her wife, Alice (pictured above), their dog, Archie, and their cat, Button.

“All round inclusion is a pretty strong belief of mine. If we can focus on getting the best out of ourselves and each other we actually can achieve way more than if we stay within our comfort zone. And I believe quite strongly in taking risks, giving ourselves permission to fail, and in keeping motivated by pushing that little bit further."

Perhaps that's why the stars of Heroic Animals inspired her - Able Seacat Simon who rescued the crew of HMS Amethyst; Bobby the Wonder Dog who crossed a continent to find his family; Galipolli Murphy who carried 250 wounded soldiers to safety; Pickles who tracked down the stolen World Cup; and the Tamworth Two who managed to save their bacon.

Clare has also written the children's book The Racehorse Who Learned To Dance.

Animates broadcasts on Sunday 16 May and 18 May 2021
