New program: The Savvy Investor

2RPH presenter Ken Cappie-Wood is filling a much-needed gap in the programming with his new program, The Savvy Investor. The fortnightly program starting Tuesday 6 of November at 2pm will provide interested listeners with money and finance news from a range of sources. 

What will the program be about?

It will be a half hour program, broadcast fortnightly, in which I’ll present a selection of investment views covering the financial markets, investment strategies and developments affecting Australian investors.

How did the idea for this program come about?

2RPH covers a broad range of interests and genres in its very impressive array of programs, but for some time I’ve felt that listeners with an interest in financial markets and investing might enjoy a program aimed at their interests. I spent the last 20 years giving investment and financial advice to clients, so I have a keen interest in this area.

What do you hope listeners take away from this program?

Whether [listeners] themselves are involved in some investment capacity (e.g. managing a self-managed super fund) or just have an interest in this field, I hope they will take away a greater insight into current thinking from top investment experts and writers in this field.

What sources do you use for this program?

I will be accessing articles and views from local and international sources such as the Australian Financial Review, Wall Street Journal, The Economist and leading commentators.

What do you love about being part of 2RPH?

Two things: firstly the feeling that, with any luck, one is making a positive difference to some of our listeners’ lives and secondly, the camaraderie in the station. Whether it’s our small but dedicated staff, or the dozens of inspiring volunteers, I love the positive spirit I always feel when I spend time at the station.

Lastly, how long have you been volunteering with 2RPH and what other 2RPH programs can listeners hear you on?

I started as a Reader at 2RPH a couple of years ago, since then I’ve taken on Announcer duties (the Australian newspaper, fortnightly on Mondays) as well as the fortnightly Bookshelf program (book reviews).
