National Volunteer Week

Fri, 15 May 2020

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.

From Monday 18 May to Sunday 24 May, National Volunteer Week is being held and is a reminder of how amazing and important volunteers are, especially to us here at 2RPH. The theme for this year's week is 'Changing Communities, Changing Lives'. We can't think of a better theme to capture what so many volunteers do across Australia in the communities they help and support.

We are fortunate to receive phone calls from many of our listeners on how important the station is for them, giving many people the opportunity to remain informed and connected to their community.

We simply couldn't exist without the dedicated efforts and support of our many volunteers. To get into the spirit of this year's National Volunteer Week, we've invited our staff and volunteers to literally put up their hand and thank not just themselves and their peers, but all the volunteers around Australia by waving a special smile of appreciation from their own home. We'll be posting these photos across our Facebook during National Volunteer Week.

Be sure to follow along and 'like' our posts to show your support for our amazing volunteers. Here is a sneak peak at one of our volunteers: Stephen with his dog Kandy. Stephen is part of our hardworking Rostering Team, who are responsible for coordinating the volunteers needed for our live-to-air newspaper programs. They often play a less visible role at the station but their work is vital for our operations and success.
