We want to showcase the amazing people that make 2RPH what it is. Introducing Maria Issaris Walsh, 2RPH Deputy Chair.

Can you tell us a little about your history with 2RPH?

I think I am the only person on the Board who has not been an announcer or reader in 2RPH. I had been working with the RPH peak body and had just returned from Melbourne when I was asked by both the station manager at the time, Nicky Lindeman, and new Chair, Di Collins, to fill in a temporary vacancy.

What do you enjoy about being part of 2RPH?

What I love about the station is its vibrancy, the people – such great characters – and the fact that things get done. We don’t just come up with ideas, we act on them and bring them into being. On the Board, we all have very different backgrounds and temperaments, but we respect each other and play to each other’s strengths. I think that is emblematic of 2RPH’s culture in general. Not many organisations can achieve that, as much as they might try. I have met and worked with some very impressive people here, which has been a joy. The quality of minds and initiatives at 2RPH is truly inspiring.

Can you share a little about your background?

My background was in the corporate world, working for iconic companies, like Qantas and the Nine Network, before branching out into journalism and writing.
