End Of A Year To Celebrate
Thu, 9 December 2021
It was not too cool and not too hot on December 3rd when over 100 members of the 2RPH listening community got together to celebrate at the Harold Park Community Hall at the Tramsheds in Forest Lodge, not far from the station. Volunteers and staff enjoyed a lovely luncheon organised by our Office Manager Nicola Snell, which provided a chance to reconnect after months of COVID lockdowns and restrictions.
The new General Manager Barry Melville gave a moving speech about what it means to create a family from a workforce of people with a shared passion for words and ideas. The former General Manager Sancha Donald bestowed smiles and Certificates of Appreciation on those readers and presenters who have provided many years of dedicated service to our listeners. She was later seen to leave the party with an armful of parting presents from the station.
Special guest Susan Oxenham was a wedding photographer for 21 years before losing her sight. She has since re-invented herself as an artist, painter, poet and gifted public speaker. She had the audience hanging on her every word. It was indeed a day to remember, a tribute to the many people who make our unique radio reading services possible from one year to the next. 2RPH volunteer Suthee Creative, a talented professional photographer when not working at the rostering desk, covered the entire event from tip to toe.
