His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) and Mrs Linda Hurley were interviewed as part of a visit to community broadcasting radio station, 2RPH on May 30.

During the visit, the Governor and Mrs Hurley, read newspaper articles for The Australian and The Newcastle Heraldrespectively, as well as being interviewed on their roles.

Mrs Hurley, who has an avid interest in music, composed, dedicated, and sang, a song about 2RPH detailing the services of the station and its volunteers. Mrs Hurley was later interviewed about her passion for music to be broadcast for the 2RPH program Ablequest. The Ablequest program examines developments in assistive technology and initiatives for those people living with a wide range of disabilities and will air on 2RPH at 3pm on Friday, June 8 and repeated on Monday, June 11 at 3pm.

The song was a beautiful addition to the visit, with the lyrics copied below for more people to enjoy.

2RPH Radio Song by Mrs Linda Hurley

Lend us your ears and we'll read you the world

We're here every day for the news to be heard

Listen to stories that the volunteers share

There's mystery and romance with love in the air

This radio service is heard every day

It started to help and has had a long stay

The call sign is 2RPH on your dial

This radio for communities has so much great style

Tune in and listen, follow printed word at home

With news and great music you won't feel alone

The presenters work hard to hone their skills

They love sharing moments it gives them a thrill

There is laughter and fun, you can listen and learn

There is great information for all to discern

We thank all the team who keep people in touch

The 2RPH service we love you so much.
