Wed, 8 September 2021

Barry 3It is with great pleasure that the Board of 2RPH has announced the appointment of Barry Melville (above) to the role of General Manager of the station.

Mr Melville will begin working with our departing General Manager, Sancha Donald, from 13th September to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities and communications. Ms Donald’s last day with the organisation will be September 30th.

"Sancha Donald has been an exemplary General Manager who has guided the station through a period of great change and progress,” said Di Collins, the Chair of 2RPH Board. “Finding a replacement for her was never going to be easy. The Board is however delighted to have unanimously endorsed the appointment of Barry Melville to the role after an intensive search.

The Board is confident that Barry’s industry experience will ensure that 2RPH remains at the forefront of radio services for those who live with a disability or who are otherwise unable to access printed material. He brings with him significant knowledge of the community broadcasting sector, public policy, executive leadership and digital technologies. His most recent roles have been with the Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO) delivering industry training, and as a strategic policy consultant to the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA).

In accepting his appointment Mr Melville said: “I’m delighted to be joining 2RPH at a time of such growth and development of the station and the disability sector. I’m looking forward to expanding our transmission services and community presence into Wollongong, while deepening our relationship with listeners across Sydney, Newcastle and the Lower Hunter.”
