A celebration of 2RPH volunteers

Wed, 5 September 2018

Web 1The first Mid-Year Celebration on Friday 10th of August was a great occasion and one of the biggest events ever held by 2RPH. Life Members, volunteers, members, industry associates as well as a few listeners made up the 100 people who joined us.

It was regrettable that 2RPH Chair, Di Collins broke her ankle as she was walking to the event.

However, we were honoured to be joined by the NSW Member for Balmain, Mr Jamie Parker MP, who along with 2RPH Deputy Chair Maria Issaris presented certificates of recognition and appreciation to volunteers who have contributed over 20 years to the station. In doing so Jamie acknowledged the value of the time and energy of all volunteers who contribute to organisations such as 2RPH.

Life Members Jeanette Ward and Professor Ronald Postle and his wife Freda were in attendance and have over 60 years of combined support for 2RPH. Jeanette has been with the station since its inception 35 years ago and was a volunteer on air for over 32 years before retiring in 2016. Professor Postle was Chair of 2RPH in 1982 and has continued to be a strong supporter of the station.

Held in the beautifully renovated Glebe Town Hall, the event was a fitting venue to acknowledge and celebrate all the volunteers and especially those who were recognised for their many years of service to the station. A further group of long serving volunteers will be acknowledged at our AGM and Christmas Party.

As part of the mid-year event the 2018-2020 Strategic Plan was launched, a copy of which can be found on the 2RPH website or you can collect a copy from 2RPH.
