Barry Melville

General Manager

Recently appointed General Manager of 2RPH, Barry’s career spans broadcasting, policy analysis, stakeholder communication and engagement.

He was a consultant for the CBAA on policy futures and industry development as well as providing management and professional development training through the CMTO. While at the Benevolent Society working on their Fix Pension Poverty campaign, he focused on the challenges that broadband poses for older Australians with limited means.

He delivered a customer engagement strategy related to their current business reforms to EDConnect in the NSW Department of Education. He was also a contractor with NSW Fair Trading on the Loose-Fill Asbestos Implementation Taskforce, developing a highly effective public awareness campaign which delivered exceptional outcomes for the Taskforce and ensured that the program was able to identify and reach multiple targeted audiences.

For 5 years he was Director of Industry Engagement for the Digital Switchover Taskforce of the Department of Communications (formerly Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy).

Overall, he has had extensive senior management experience in the public, private and community sectors. This includes working as an Account Director in Government Relations at Jackson Wells and as General Manager of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.

Barry’s attention to analytical rigour, evidence-based research, problem-solving and innovation have distinguished his career in communications, media management, communications policy and regulation, community and industry engagement, government relations and consumer advocacy.
