Nick Bertram

Long-time reader and announcer Nick Bertram has been appointed to the 2RPH Board, taking over from Robert Hargreaves at the end of 2017. We spoke to Nick about his new role.

I discovered 2RPH back in 1994... someone read me the newspaper while I drove home from work every day. It was brilliant! I also became aware of the reason why the station existed. Then I went overseas with work for nearly four years.

We live in a great country, and when I returned, I decided it was time to contribute and do something community focused. The station advertised for readers, I auditioned, and joined 2RPH in 1999 when it was based in Marrickville. After having been a reader for a number of years, I was given the opportunity to train as an announcer. Naturally, I grabbed it, and have been announcing since.

For some time now I have wanted to contribute more to our station, and the community we serve. Joining the Board allows me to do this, using experience, knowledge and skills gained in different environments.

Being a member of 2RPH is.... for me, enjoyable in a number of ways. I enjoy knowing that we are doing something for members of our community. We have so many really nice people here too, which makes such a difference. One of the things that has struck me since joining the Board, is just how dedicated everyone on our Board is - to our station, members and volunteers, and to serving our community. It’s great to be a part of it all.

Every fortnight I have the good fortune to be a part of the Saturday morning team that presents the Sydney Morning Herald and the Saturday Telegraph. 2RPH on a Saturday morning is a great way to catch up on the news.

Away from work and 2RPH...  I’m a member of Toastmasters, I like to keep fit, and I’m preparing to become a father again in March – which is fantastic!
