Funding

It’s been famously said that life’s not meant to be easy - and it’s always something of a struggle for a special purpose radio station like 2RPH to stay on air. Costs keep rising, equipment keeps on needing attention, and regular sources of funding are generally not enough to meet all the expenses.

So how does 2RPH maintain its strong presence on the Sydney scene?

The funds come in from Governments, both State and Federal, Sponsorships, and from other sources usually referred to simply as “Fundraising”.

In 2002/03, funding from Government included grants from the Department of Communications, Information and the Arts, as well as from the NSW Department of Ageing and Disability and the Community Broadcasting Foundation. These grants include the cost of transmitter maintenance, electricity, landlines and general administration expenses covering the major outgoings.

Fundraising Activities range from the sale of chocolates and marketing of model aeroplanes up to an annual general appeal, conducted through radio announcements in the final stages of the financial year.

Bequests also feature in the fundraising records.

Donations are welcome at all times of the year of course, and are tax deductible. (Taxation Office DGR 69 057). Credit card facilities are available.

Go to “Sponsorship” for the more commercial aspect of 2RPH fund raising.
